I had the problem with my 2000 regal 2x. They replaced the ignition, which did not work. I went up north and a friend worked at the gm dealer. He said it was the solenoid in the shifter. He replaced the shifter and guess what, it worked!! AnswerActually, I had this happen to my 94 sable and I was trying to get the key out for a while. Make sure the car is in PARK or the key won't come out.
Your ignition key may be too worn down, the car dealership can probably make you a new one. Another cause may be worn lock cylinder parts (springs, etc.) or there could be dirt/sand in the cylinder.
sounds like you have connected the wires wrong on starter. if that is not the problem then you have a short either in ignitin switch or in the solenoid
There is a sort somewhere in the starting system
Dead cell in the battery. A light is on drawing power from the battery. You may also have a relay that is stuck.
By itself, the thermostat would have to be stuck closed causing a severe overheat condition to cause a loss of power.
stuck closed thermeostat or blown cylinder head gasket.
I would highly recommend calling you dealership. :)
The lock went bad. Call a locksmith and get a replacement installed.

My oldsmobubble's ignition was stuck due to a factory setting of some kind that was starting to malfunction from an electronic short. They said they would have to take apart steering column to fix, etc.$$$$
i have that problem to it has something to do with the gear shift censor
What do you mean? When does this happen. I have a Malibu '02 and the horn will blow if one of my electric lock buttons are stuck up or down. This will cause it to honk if I put the car in park.
Ignition is required for an engine to work. Failure of ignition would prevent the engine working.
Replace your transmission pump or get a new transmission.
You may have a short in the ignition system.
the steering wheel..
Sounds like the starter relay or solenoid is stuck. Check the selenoid - the selenoid might be stuck closed which would cause the starter to turn because the power wouldn't be shut off from the battery. Or it may be the ignition switch is stuck in the start position.
