A short term fix is to unplug the battery from the car. This, at least it did for me, should let you remove the key from the ignition. But this also disables any security system you may have.
you can try cleaning the contacts on the shift linkage. Your ignition must be in park. If the contacts are dirty, the circuit is interupted. Also could be the tumbler is worn in which case you have to replace the switch. Not an easy thing to do, and you need to deactivate the airbag if you have one. Some ignitions have a manual release the you can access on the underside of the ignition. You have to insert a pin to pull the key out. good luck to you.
start simple, some times when the steering wheel is pulling too hard against the lock it will prevent the key from moving. Try wiggling the steering wheel when moving the key.
Hi, we had the same problem with our 2001 Ford Focus. We will need the have the lock replaced long-term but for now we just have to hit the key toward the lock a few times which straightens the pins enough that you can start her up.
In some cars, the 2001 Toyota Tacoma for example, when the fuse blows for the brake lights, the shifter will not come out of park. Also, when the key sticks, it can be the switch that is activated by the shifter (automatics) is broken, bad or out of adjustment. Check in a Chiltons or the Field Service Manual for your car.
Your ignition key may be too worn down, the car dealership can probably make you a new one. Another cause may be worn lock cylinder parts (springs, etc.) or there could be dirt/sand in the cylinder.
I had the problem with my 2000 regal 2x. They replaced the ignition, which did not work. I went up north and a friend worked at the gm dealer. He said it was the solenoid in the shifter. He replaced the shifter and guess what, it worked!! AnswerActually, I had this happen to my 94 sable and I was trying to get the key out for a while. Make sure the car is in PARK or the key won't come out.
sounds like you have connected the wires wrong on starter. if that is not the problem then you have a short either in ignitin switch or in the solenoid
bad synchronizer
There is a sort somewhere in the starting system
i have that problem to it has something to do with the gear shift censor
I would highly recommend calling you dealership. :)
GET A NEW CAR. IT WOULD MOST LIKELY BE CHEAPER......
Parking brake applied or stuck on.Incorrect fluid level in trans. Transmission is bad.
The lock went bad. Call a locksmith and get a replacement installed.
Bad Ignition lock cylinder , Bad shift interlock solenoid, burr on the key.
Maybe brake shift cable from brake to gear shifter?
A change in price level would cause movement along the demand curve, but would not cause the curve itself to shift.
The engine has a serious ignition or injection problem needing repair
would the tierod cause the wheel to turn out
what would transmission not to shift in to overdrive
