Born (probably) in Condé-sur-l'Escaut (region of Frandres, then not properly belonging to Belgium, but nowadays a "commune" in the department of Nord / Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France), in 1445 or 1450, the great musician JOSQUIN DES PRÉS (or PREZ or PRÈS) lived there and afterwards for some time in Saint-Quentin, then in several places, such as Milan, Modena (both in Italy), Nancy, Paris, Plaisance (these, in France), then in Ferrare (Italy - maybe also in Naples), Aix-en-Provence (France), then having returned to his hometown (by the border of Belgium with France), where he died, probably in 1521.
