∙ 12y agoIts actually under the hood there will be a black canester cap and it is in there. That's why it is a canester filter.... If you go to a parts store to get it because obviously your doing it yourself they are always more than happy to tell you how to do it...

The filter snaps onto the bottom of the black cap with the point on the filter facing down. The black cap will be facing up at you. Most newer Chevy Cavalier's have a paper oil filter, located on the TOP of the engine normaly on the driver's side.
