Jack Drake Rollins (1943) is a Swahili/Arabic Scholar, Professor in the Hutton Honors College, and Adjunct Professor of African Studies, English, and Comparative Literature at Indiana University--Bloomington. He was also Principal, President, and CEO of The Trade Africa International Corporation and Trade Africa Entertainment, which acted as the exclusive licensee and distributor of Warner Brothers, MGM/UA Home Video/RCA/Columbia Home Video, Orion Pictures Home Video, Hanna-Barbara Home Video, Turner Pictures Home Video, Marvel Entertainment, Mad Magazine, DC Comics, EC Comics, television programming and other American and European media in several Africa countries. With the MPAA and the MPEAA he helped to influence changes in Kenya's copyright law.

His degrees include: BA (University of Michigan), MA (Indiana University), MFA (University of Iowa), and a PhD (Indiana University has taught in several American, European, and African Universities, as well as serving as Associate Dean of the Graduate School at Indiana State University. He is the winner of both the Fulbright-Hays Award for teaching at the National University of Gabon, and a Rockefeller Foundation Humanities Fellowship that allowed him to finish his A History of Swahili Prose from Earliest Times to the End of the Nineteenth Century. He has published and presented many scholarly articles every year, his last being a paper delivered at Yale University in October of 2008, entitled "Arabic, Swahili, and Sheng: The Power of Orthographic Code-Switching in Kenya," which is due to be published by Yale in 2009.

He also actively operates a small consulting firm, Group Rollins Global, which helps NGOs, governmental agencies, and private corporations with various forms of intelligence. The company maintains business and political contacts throughout Africa, but is especially strong in Kenya and Nigeria.

Rollins is also a Masters Swimmer who holds several national records, and is a member of The United States Marine Corps League and is a Semper Fi Member of the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation. In addition, he is a member of the following professional societies: AAUP, Those in the Media, Entertainment Business, Higher Education, London, Paris, Johannesburg, Lagos, Nairobi, and Swiss Business Clubs.

He is married and has two children, and two grandchildren.
