A lack of water in your cooling system will cause your 2002 Pontiac Sunfire to overheat. A malfunctioning thermostat can also cause it to overheat.
Low coolant?
Cooling/clutch fan not working?
Water pump not circulating coolant?
Radiator plugged or restricted?
Defective radiator cap?
It could be a bad fan clutch. If the fan clutch goes bad it could cause it to overheat while idling, but it would cool off when driving due to the wind going over the radiator.
Check if there is coolant and if fan is on, if not: Possible stuck thermostat Possible missing fan shroud Possible bad water pump
Low coolant, inoperative radiator fan, restricted radiator, failed water pump, etc.
Timing, fuel filter & Check throttle body not sticking & get injectors cleaned professionaly. good luck.
Your coolant mixture could be too light, and you may want to try thickening it by added less diluted or wholly undiluted antifreeze/coolant to it.
Crank position sensor could be the problem. Worth looking into.
There is no afs on a cherokee, they run on a map sensor.
It can not be removed and have the engine still run.
Unplug wires and run a hot from the battery to the hot on fan and a ground from the fan to the ground on the battery, this will test the fan.
Might be a vacuum leak
have you checked to make sure electric fan is working? Should come on at idle when engine is hot, or anytime a/c is on. there are two relays, a fuse and electric connection from thermostat that control this, if fan is not working, one of these is the likely problem.
check your plugs........
Your 2000 4.8 liter Sierra might run rough at an idle because of clogged fuel injectors or a clogged fuel filter. You might also have gotten water in the gasoline.
Hey blown head get will cause it to run hot.
Yes it will run on 10% ethanol fuel. Do not try E85.
if it has a knock that is not the issue, cooling fan relay goes bad, they run hot & develop a knock inside the motor
Why does my 2000 Pontiac Grand Am, with a 2.4L engine, run rough at idle but runs normally when placed in neutral? I changed the plugs and air filter, but the problem continues.
Either your fans aren't working or the thermostat is stuck closed.
The primary cause for a 2000 BMW 528i to run hot is a defective thermostat. A stuck thermostat will prevent coolant from flowing and can lead to overheating.
Turn the AC on and the electric fan on the radiator should run.
