It probably needs a tune up. My 1998 Mazda 626 was idling very rough, so I did a tune-up by replacing the spark plugs and wires. This made the engine run better, but the rought idling continued. I took it to my mechanic, and he found a vacuum leak somewhere, and $270 later, it idles smooth as glass

Why transmission will not shift out of park small rod do not moves it is park on a 1998 Lincoln Town car?

Check the fuse for the brake lights. If that fuse is blown it will not come out of park.

When you turn the key on your Mazda 626 year 1996 the reverse lights come on and the car is in park and it wont start?

Take it out of reverse.

Your key is stuck in 1997 Mazda Millenia and it won't go into park Any suggestions?

Question: Is the car running or stalled? If stalled try starting it. If the key won't turn to start it or move to another position, try to move your steering wheel out of the locked position. Somtimes when there is resistance, or pressure against the lock you will not be able to turn the key - on or off. Question: Are you stopped on an incline? If so, the gear may not allow you to move to park (or out of park sometimes) if there is positive resistance on the transmission. This would prevent you from putting in park.

How do you get your 2001 Pontiac Aztec out of park while engine is running?

Put your foot on the brake. Most/all newer cars have an interlock that keeps you from shifting from park to drive without your foot on the brake. Sometimes if you park the car on a hill, it will be difficult to move the shifter out of park. That's why some people use the emergency brake before putting the car into park when parking on a hill or incline (like a driveway)

Why can't I remove the ignition key of 2006 Jeep Liberty while I you have if in Park and the key will not come out of the ignition?

I had same problem with my 2002 liberty. It was the park sensor. I had to turn on the key and put it in neutral then back to park to get the key out (might have to do it a couple of times). Once I did that I could get the key out. Then I had to remove the center console cover and found that the park sensor was loose. I tightened it up and haven't had a problem since. Hope this helps!
