If it's an Old Beetle then you should buy the Bently manual for your year bug. It has all the info you need and is actually pretty informative. It's really not that hard. Mainly just need to jack the engine up far enough to clear the mount bolts and put in new ones. I think you don't need to pull the motor.
4 cylinder will have two engine mounts and one transmission mount
just had my motor mounts replaced on the same bug you're asking about. I know there were three (3). Parts & labor ran $638.00. Call dealer parts dept and ask!
You need to support the engine when removing any mounts. The mounts bolt to the engine, and bolt to the unibody of the car. You can find the locations of all of the engine mounts by hunting around the engine bay or by picking up a Chiltons and Haynes manual.
The 1995 Dodge Neon engine mounts are located on each corner of the engine. There will be to engine mounts in the front and two engine mounts in the rear.
Only if everything is compatiable with both engine sizes and if the motor mounts line up and if they don't then you have to change the motor mounts too
$2000 and German mechanic
It sounds like one or more of the engine mounts has weakened or broken. They are rubber engine mounts used to lessen vibration of the engine into the passenger compartment. These mounts can and do fail, especially if you live in a very icy area (the chemicals to de-ice the road damage the mounts) or if you live in an area with wide-ranging weather and you park your car outside in those conditions.
It depends. Generally, the answer is yes, as long it is bug to bug, or other like models. It is not true of the bus, as it changed engine formats right about then.
I am still waiting for an answer. The book says on 1999 and newer Taurus's the engine and transaxle must be removed underneath the vehicle to change motor mounts. You will need a hoist and engine cradle. Big Job! Check with a proffessional.
unplug all wires and fuel, vacuum and coolant hoses. undo 2 engine mounts and 2 transmission mounts. pull engine out. put new one in in reverse order
5 hours !
Yes, Engine will bolt to transmission, but some mounts and wiring along with computers will have to be change, but engine can be installed.
