My ac blows only in the defroster and not any of the other vents i have 98 Ford Windstar 3.8 v6
Possible blockage in the rear air units expansion valve. I just replaced mine for the same reason.
The Heating/ ventilation systems in cars are large structures throughout the dash board, that have many channels of which air can flow through. When you use your face vents, the air is blowing from the upper vent channels. If you use the windshield defroster, the air comes from the very same upper channels, the channels just switch. They have a divider that blocks airflow one way or another. Very much like train tracks, when you change the settings with the switches, the airflow changes because the divider has moved. Therefore you cannot use both at once. The only reason why you can use the foot vents, and face vents at the same time, is because they have a divider that splits the channel that they share, you can use face vents (full force), foot vents (full force) or both split (half force). The Defroster is made to work fast, so if you use the face, and defroster vents at the same time, the defroster would be half as effective. This is why you cant use them both at the same time.
Because it's not a defroster button! It's just the symbol for ventilating the air into the car. It shoudln't be called a defroster since defrosting is meant by heating up the coils that you see at the back of the car. I'm pretty no car has wires in the front!
on your car it is a defalt mode for air to blow out defrost when there is no vacumn from the engine so you should look for a broken vacum line or see if it has come unplugged on the engine.
Might have a bad vacuum motor for one of the doors for the ducts. Most likely U have a Vacume leak @ the Vacume Canister or a bad Vac hose. The hoses are very small(about 1/8 or 3/16 inch)Some- times its a Actuator 4 the mixer doors but mstly its just a small Vacume leak.Check the hoses from the intake manifold to the fire-- wall,Thet T off & becme very small.
Chances are that this is a PICNIS situation- Problem In Chair Not In System- make sure you have the button that makes it blow out of both vents... it looks like a little person sitting and has an arrow towards his head and an arrow towards his feet. If the problem still exists then I would consider two things- car is broken, or you're forgetting physics- Hot air rises, cold air falls... maybe the fan system isn't strong enough to force the hot air down to the lower vents along with the top vents... the bottom line is that you shouldn't be doing both... I would just set it so its only trying to blow hot air out of the floor vents- its a much more effecient way to heat the entire car.
sounds like there is a vacuum leak under the dash or at the slide controls, and the plenum door is not able to move to change selection.
I just fixed a similar problem on my 95 LeSabre, got info from this website. http://www.imcool.com/articles/aircondition/fix_vacuum_line.htm
Vent bypasses heater core when open,it is for outside air only...I know this because I just replaced heater core.
It's somewhat cold. It's just very little cold air coming out. Can't hear the vent blow the air as well.
The problem is not unique to the Chrysler 300m. The air being blown through the defroster vents, either from inside or outside, has too much moisture in it and the glass onto which it is being blown is below the dew point of the air. Determine where the moisture is coming from - if inside air, probably damp clothing or upholstery - if outside air, then you are probably just in a humid environment. Turn on the defroster or air conditioning with the temperature turned up to the highest setting, and you'll remove any residual moisture sitting in the vents.
If you are talking about the thermostat in your engine, the two have nothing to do with eachother. If there is no air at all coming out the vents, I suggest it is your blower motor.
