There is a yellow wire under the seat on my 14.5 HP Murray 42'' deck mower, and plug it in or don't that's where all killswitches are on a Murray lawnmower and pretty sure they still are today.
It depends on the mower. Some you will need to remove the deck. Some you will have to remove the deck mounting brackets. Others will change without removing anything. For detailed info please ask again with the make and model of the mower.

To level the cutting deck on a Murray 42816A lawn mower, first ensure the mower is on a flat surface. Then, adjust the deck height by locating the adjustment lever or knob on each side of the deck and setting them to the desired height. To check for levelness, measure the height from the ground to the front and back of the deck; they should be equal. If not, make further adjustments until both sides are even.
To remove the mower deck on a STX 38 yellow deck, start by raising the deck to its highest position. Next, disconnect the belt from the engine pulley and remove the deck lift rods by unhooking them from the brackets. Finally, detach the deck by removing the mounting bolts and sliding it out from under the tractor. Be sure to consult the owner's manual for specific details related to your model.
First Loosen the belt tension by disengaging the drive lever. Remove the belt from the lower drive pulley On the front axle there is a bracket that has a long rod with a quick pin through one end of the shaft. Remove it and then remove the rod from the bracket. This releases the front of the mower deck. Then look on both side of the mower deck and you will find four flat metal pieces (2 on each side) with a hole at the top and each one will have a quick fastener connector to the stud on the chassis. Pull these quick disconnects and lift the deck slightly where you can pull the shaft off of the metal stud. Do the same for both sides and then pull the deck out from under the riding lawnmower. You need to put a block under the the deck when you lower it to keep from it putting a lot of pressure on the other side. It will make it easier to lower the deck.
