Remove the fuel tank from a VR Commodore by first jacking up the drivers side rear, remove the wheel, remove the stone guard at the rear of the wheel-well, remove the fuel lines and electrical connections to the fuel pump (noting how they were connected). NB: The fuel pump is inside the tank; see it on the front of the tank near the diff.
Support the weight of the tank with a jack (use a soft block of wood between the jack and the tank) and remove the two tank strap bolts at the front of the tank (near the axle) then lower the tank and take it backward away from the vehicle.
This answer assumes you have some mechanical skill, will have depressurised the fuel system before removing the fuel lines, will have disconnected the battery, will have placed the vehicle on stands and will expect to have to wriggle and pull at the tank to get it out after the straps have been removed. Be sure to have some petroleum jelly or similar to get the filler tube back into position when refitting.
Remove the fuel tank. Mounted inside on the top of the tank.

The Fuel Pump in a VT is located in the Fuel tank, as in most cars. I think you need to remove the fuel tank to replace, obviously great care needs to be taken.
