To reset your service light here are the steps.
1. Get in your car and shut the door.
2. Put your key in the ignition
3. Turn your ignition key to position 1
4. Push in your Odometer reset button and hold it in while holding it move the ignition key to position 2 while holding down the odometer reset button.
5. After couple of seconds of holding the button down and the key in position 2 your service light will start to blink once that happens let go of the reset button and start the car.
This should reset your service light and a service light on your Volvo C/S/V70 cars from 1999 onwards.
1. set ignition key to position I
2. press and hold trip odometer button
3. within 2 seconds turn ignition to position II
4. within 4 seconds release odometer button
5. switch kez back to 0 position, take key out.
I found this to be a bit trial and error in terms of the timings (ie. 3. and 4.). If, trip is already at 000 then extend timings to approx 8-10 seconds for 3.
It worked for me after several attempts.

Hold the reset button for the trip odometer pressed in until the original value has been reset The information lamp lights when the reset button must be released Release the reset button for the trip odometer within 4 seconds . The instrument gives an audible signal when resetting has succeeded If the trip odometer is already reset, the reset button must be held in for a minimum of 10 seconds and a maximum of 14 seconds .
Press the button on the right hand stalk untill "mileage before service" is displayed, it looks like a car driving towards a pan with a drip falling into it. press and hold the same button for more than 10 seconds, the display will flash 4 times and rest.
you will have to go to the dealer, they will hook up their diagnostic machine IDS and reset it.
