Red spruce is considered a softwood, as it comes from coniferous trees. It is often used in construction, Musical Instruments, and furniture due to its favorable properties, such as good strength-to-weight ratio and workability. While it is classified as softwood, it can still be relatively strong compared to some hardwoods.

There are many different types of wood, these are the ones I work with and could think of...CedarEastern Red CedarBirchMapleWalnutBlack WalnutAshPineFirLemon WoodOakRED BALLSThat is all that I could think of right now...but as the person said before me there is plywood which is actually just large sheets of other types of wood...and there is particle board which is just a man-made board...In addition these types of wood come in different cuts & forms...If you are planning on building something out of wood I suggest that you look up more on the type of wood that you are going to use, this is because different woods vary in how hard or soft they are (i.e. Eastern Red Cedar is a very soft wood, while Ash is a fairly hard wood)...Lastly if anyone know more about this topic than what I have stated please add your input...
