The wiring harness is bad. It was common on the '93.
The headlight socket is made into the headlight assembly. You have to change the whole headlight. If you dont have mech experince then i would let a shop do it because its easy to change but the new one has to be aligned using the adjustment screws. This can be a pain if you dont know what your doing. The headlight socket is made into the headlight assembly. You have to change the whole headlight. yes but you also have to change headlight assemblies also. not worth doing. just find a 97+ bumper.
Open your hood and pull the body clips out of the front black panel. After doing so you should be able to remove it with a socket wrench and then just disconnect the wires.
Simply reach up under the headlight, below the grills, grab the center of the headlight mechanism and pull while gently lifting on the headlight door. This will bring the headlight to its open position. Once up, the headlight mechanism will lock in place, to lower the headlights, push against the mechanism and the door will close. You will basically be doing the work of the headlight actuator from the opposite side.
Remove outer headlamp ring by lifting tab. Remove the bulbs. Be careful and pull the headlight straight out after removing the bulb. It is attached to four plastic tabs and requires a good tug. Push the new headlight back on. You'll probably have to re-aim the headlight. I find it's easier to raise the hood,lLook behind the headlight assembly and remove the socket/bulb, then remove the bulb from the socket, replace and re-insert the socket/bulb. Be sure not to touch the bulb glass while doing this as it tends to shorten bulb life.
It may seem that way but all vehicles burn out headlamps and other bulbs all the time. Whoever does the safety checks during an oil change isn't doing their job very well.
Use a vanity mirror and a torch so you see what you are doing.
When you change how you can change by doing something
start by taking your dash gauges out, that way you can see what your doing, self explanatory from there
I'm not specifically sure what a 99 would look like, but all you have to do is look in your manual and it will tell you how to go about doing it and what bulbs are needed to replace them with. Once you've done it once, it'll be easy...
Easiest way is to lift the hood and then gently pull on the grill and remove it. Then take out the headlight unit by pulling up on the slide pin with a screwdriver that is located on one side of the top of the headlight assembly. There is another one on the side. Then disconnect the side marker light from the assembly and the assembly will drop forward. Now you can see what you are doing and remove the plug with a twist. The bulb pops out and the new one goes in without being contaminated and shortening the life span of the bulb.
You should not change anything and keep doing what you have been doing.
