Well there are coups which have "hard" roofs Then there are cabriolets they are convertibles aka rag tops And targa is a bit of both because it has a removable panel so you get a convertible experience but it's also a hard top in the winter. In practice there are some issues. It's not the full top down experience of a convertible. Old ones tend to leak From a purists point of view the targa is less rigid and heavier
