I just got done bleeding the clutch on my 1999 Legacy Sedan. I believe that the clutches are identical.

In my case, the clutch hose had ruptured, so I had to replace that. Most of the fluid drain out in the process of swapping the the old for the new.

Once everything was tightened, I filled the reservoir almost to the top with the clutch petal "sitting" in the engaged position. (If there isn't enough fluid in the system the clutch will appear to suck in and stick to the floor.) Remember to keep the cap off of the reservoir for this entire process or you will just be fighting a vacuum. After the fluid is in, reach down to the clutch petal and very slowly draw it to the disengaged position. At this time I loosed the bleed and pressed the petal down until there was a very slight resistance. At this point, leave the clutch in this position and have somebody tighten the bleed. Slowly let the clutch petal back out and then pump it using your finger about an inch back and forth for a few minutes. You should see a few bubbles in the reservoir. Once the petal feels like there is slight resistance in the fully disengaged position, top the fluid off to the "full" line and put the cap on. Make sure everything feels right before you take it out for a test drive.

Where and how do you adjust the clutch on a 94 escort?

The clutch can't be adjusted. It is an hydraulic clutch. The clutch pedal sends pressure from the master cylinder to the slave cylinder on the clutch. IF you are having trouble with it the thing to do is bleed the air out at the slave cylinder. Have an assistant pump the clutch and hold it to the floor. Then open the bleed valve on the slave cylinder to let the air out of the system. On the final bleed hold the clutch to the floor and close the bleed valve on the slave cylinder. The clutch master cylinder operates of the brake fluid reservoir. Make sure you keep this full of brake fluid as you bleed the clutch.
