The 1988 Toyota oxygen sensor is located on the air cleaner housing. You will find the sensor, on the back side of the housing.
The oxygen sensor is in the factory manifold coming off of the front of the engine. It has been a while since I looked at mine but I think it is the only plug in wire on the exhaust.Get a new sensor and go to a local muffler shop and they will do it in no time, or pull it out yourself and plug in the new one.
On my '91 it's below the thermostat.
It's inside the air cleaner housing.
To change the oxygen sensor in a 1998 Toyota T100, first, locate the sensor, which is typically found on the exhaust manifold or downstream in the exhaust system. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and then unplug the sensor's electrical connector. Use an oxygen sensor socket or a wrench to unscrew the old sensor, and then install the new sensor by threading it in place and tightening it securely. Finally, reconnect the electrical connector and the negative battery terminal.
