Below is what Nissan would like you to think. If your Frontier is 2005+ 2nd gen, then there is a dip stick. it's located down on the passenger side of the engine near the exhaust manifold. It's small, and it's bolted down with a 10mm bolt. You'll need to remove that to pull the dipstick. Also, there is an actual drain plug in the corner of the transmission pan. You can do a partial drain/fill yourself in your garage with minimal effort.

You cant check the Transmission Fluid because there isn't a dip stick or plug.

The transmission oil is change using a pressure pump system at the dealer while the transmission is running via the transmission cooling lines. This system bleeds all the fluid out and flushes the entire system, replacing all the fluid. The only draw back is that it uses really expensive fluid and it costs about $350 in Canada to have it done. Now that's an expensive oil change.
