You can back up fairly close to a light-colored wall or garage door, or a plate glass window at night and step on the brake pedal. If the brake lights work, you will see the red glow from each of them in the rear view mirrors. Or you can ask someone to watch the brake lights while you step on the brake pedal and tell you if any or akll of them light up.
check the bulbs to see if there burnt and check your fuses
check your fuses first. then check the bulbs. If that doesn't work. check your wiring be sure to check to see if your switch on the brake pedal is closing, as pressure is applied.
Check to see if any are blown and replace
CHECK the brAKE LIGHT SWICTH ABOVE THE PEDAL ANOUT 10 inches ,by chech see rear brake lights work. CHECK the brAKE LIGHT SWICTH ABOVE THE PEDAL ANOUT 10 inches ,by chech see rear brake lights work.
the connection between the battery and the brake lights
Many cars use the same bulb for the brake and turn indicator. Seems like one is burnt out. Have someone step on the brake and see if one of the brake lights does not respond.
It burnt out i think he..... also try your fuse. check on fuse door and see which one is for the lights
First things first you need to check your fuses. In the owners manual you will find the location of the fuse that relates to the brake lights. Take the fuse out and hold it up to see if the connection is broken if it is replace and the brake lights should work.
I had a similar experience on my 57 Chevy back in the 60's. 1. CheckFuse Panel fuse under Brake Lights. 2. Check bulbs High Beam filaments. 3. Withrunning lights on tap tail lights to check for wire grounding shorts. 4. Check flasher to see that the lights work. 5. This is what I discovered to be wrong: Look under Brake Pedal for the Brake Relay Switch button. It works in reverse like the button on a refrigerator or vehicle door. When the button is pressed in by the brake pedal it opens the circuit to the High Beam of the brake/running tail lights. If working by hand but not by the brake adjust it. If not working replace it. It is the Brake Lights Relay Switch.
Is the bulb out on the 3rd Brake Light? Check bulb, harness attachment and wiring. Most likely its the bulb. See sources and related links below for bulb information.
Check to see if your brake lights work. If not, there is a switch attached to your brake petal Assembly that probably came loose. plug it back in and it should work....
Check your brake lights and see if they are working. Ford has it so if your brake lights are out you can not shift out of park.
