To program a 1997 Infiniti Q45 keyless remote, first, sit in the driver's seat and close all doors. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position (not starting the engine) and then back to "Off" eight times within 10 seconds. After the eighth turn, the doors should lock and unlock, indicating the car is in programming mode. Press any button on the remote to program it, and the doors will lock and unlock again to confirm successful programming. Repeat the button press for any additional remotes.
The 1989 Buick Park Avenue does not come with a remote keyless entry. The keyless remote entry was not available till 1997.

You have to go to the dealership to have your keyless remote reprogrammed. They have a scan tool to tell the computer that you are using a new key fob. I just did it to my 1997 sebring. I knew the service manager, so he let me borrow it, it took me about 15 minutes, most will do it for a small fee, some will do it as a courtesy.
