simply dissconect the "in hose" on your fuel filter while the car is off. Once this is done turn your engine on you should A. hear your fuel pump pressurize the system B. see the fuel pumpin out of the tube in your hand @ about 30+psi.. if neither of these things occur your pump is pooched.fuel filter is located under the hood attached to the fire wallupper passengerside. 10 min tops
if you don't already have a manual, buy one, they are helpful and can tell you how to test things like that. there are other things worth checking first, like the fuel filter, which is cheap and if you havent replaced it, i recommend doing so it depends on what the car was doing that makes you think your fuel pump might be out

To replace a fuel pump in a Honda Fit, first, ensure the vehicle is off and the fuel system is depressurized. Remove the rear seat to access the fuel pump access panel, then disconnect the electrical connector and fuel lines from the pump. Unscrew the mounting screws to remove the old pump, and install the new one by reversing the process. Finally, reconnect everything, and test the system for leaks before starting the engine.
to replace the fuel pump on a 93 Honda civic its quite simple really you can do it yourself first take out your back seat. there is a bolt behind the middle seat between the back rest and the seat. feel around for the bolt and take that out. you should then be able to remove the seat bottom. there is a plate with 4 small screws covering the fuel pump, take that off. remove all electrical connections and hoses. remove the 6 or so nuts that are holding the fuel pump down in place. simply pull the assembly out (carefully you don't want to rip the gasket) then take it to your bench and test it to make sure it is a fuel pump. then rebuild it with new parts. got to love Honda for making a car that you don't have to drop the tank to do this. i recommend picking up a haines manual for that car just so you have the proper guide to look at. hope this helps
You will need a helper. Have the helper sit in the drivers seat while you stand at the fuel filler door with the door open and fuel cap off. Have the helper turn the ignition switch to the on position but not start the engine. As you have your ear close to the opening to the fuel tank you will hear the pump come on and run for a few seconds and then shut down. Repeat this as necessary to determine that you actually hear the pump run. If you hear the pump run it is more than likely good but it is possible that it could run and still not be pumping fuel. The only way to verify this would be to run a fuel pressure test with a fuel pressure gauge. If you do not hear the fuel pump run then one of 4 things is wrong. Either there is a problem with the wiring, the fuel pump fuse is blown, the fuel pump relay is defective, or the fuel pump itself is defective.
