A 1998 Acura CL typically requires about 7.4 quarts of Transmission Fluid when performing a complete fluid change, including the torque converter. However, if you're only draining and refilling the fluid from the transmission pan, it may take around 4-5 quarts. Always check the owner's manual for the most accurate specifications for your specific model and transmission type.

if it's the same as a 95 lt1 engine and you drained and dropped the pan and replaced the gasket and filter, then it is 4 and a half.
The 1998 Acura RL typically requires about 8 to 9 quarts of automatic transmission fluid for a complete fluid change. It's important to check the owner's manual for specific recommendations and guidelines, as fluid capacity can vary slightly based on the transmission type and whether the system is being drained and refilled or flushed. Always use the recommended type of transmission fluid for optimal performance.
There is a screen in the transmission fluid sump but no filter.
It is important to know the fluid capacity of a car. The 1998 Jetta holds approximately two liters of transmission fluid, which would be a little over 2 quarts.
For the 2.3 CL, it's 4.5 quarts. For the 3.0 CL, it's 4.6 quarts.
First, check the tranny fluid when the SUV is off and cold. Then check the tranny fluid after the SUV is warmed and idling. The level of tranny fluid level should go down, if it doesn't the tranny itself is not taking up any. Replacing the tranny fluid filter may solve your problem. If not its most likely the tranny oil pump. This is if your fluid level stays the same when warm or, cold. If the tranny fluid changes from cold to warm, your tranny has a more serious problem and should be looked at by a pro.
I was wondering the same thing for my 1996. The owners manual says 2.1 quarts but that doesn't come close to full on the dipstick. After changing the fluid/filter the tranny was slipping, I'm up to 4 quarts and still below "cold" on the dipstick but at least the slipping has stopped. I'm thinking at least 5 quarts. I know I drained 4 or 5 quarts out. -Bill-
