1974 models does not have throttle positions sensors. 1974 models have a carburetor. Only models with fuel injection have throttle position sensors. Sounds like someone is pulling your leg.
Throttle position sensor is located at the throttle body. There are only two sensors there. The one facing the firewall is what you are looking for.

If you're facing engine in front of car, the throttle position sensor is on the left side of the throttle neck. You will see two sensors there. One up high and one which is lower on the throttle neck. The highest sensor on the throttle neck is the TPS.
