I don't know how common it is but I just took my car in as the check engine light has been coming on & off for some time. I was told I needed a new head gasket to the tune of $2400.00. I only have 85k miles on the car. I take good care of it & have regular oil changes. I think this is outrageous. If I had 185k miles maybe....
