The 2006 Mazda 6 fuel pump has been a thorn in my side. It was designed with the filter sealed inside the pump which means to replace the filter you have to replace the pump which costs about $375! It's located in a trap door under the back seat. Common problems that should be checked before replacing the pump would be the pump relay (is power getting to the pump), the purge valve failed closed (in emissions system but still affects pump, this is very common on 06 Mazda 6's), blown fuse just to name the most obvious. Make sure the fuel injectors are working and that's not your problem. This pump basically is also just a bad design which may mean the unit might just need to be replaced.
