Bad things will happen. First you will wear down you wear indicators (the things squealing that are telling you that your brakes are toast). Then you will be out of brake pad and will only stop by you brake system pressing the metal backing plate on a metal brake rotor. This will stop the car, but not very well. If you are still to stupid or ignorant to fix the problem, you will continue to burn through your brake rotor down to its ventilating fins. Red colored rust will be all over your wheel and tire. It will sound, feel and perform terribly. When you finally fix the problem, if will cost significantly more as you will have destroyed several parts. To summarize, it will work for awhile, then it will cost you 3 times as much to fix in the long run. So get the problem addressed quickly once you hear or feel a problem. If you don't you will likely end up in a bad accident and may kill someone or yourself.
