Will the rear brake pads work in the front?

If they are the exact same size yes, they will work, but normally they are not as large as the front brakes pads and will not fit.

Do you need to grease anything when changing brake pads?

new pads should come with caliper grease. You dont need to use the grease but if you dont your brakes will like to squeak. It goes between the metal side of the pad and the caliper. If you dont have the grease some high temp grease will work fine.

Which wear out firstfront pads or rear shoes?

Front brake pads will wear out much faster than rear brakes pads on a properly functioning and normally driven vehicle, this happens because front brakes do most of the work when slowing down. Rear brakes pads will last more than 3 times longer than front pads.

Ford e-350 cargo van emergency brakes?

The emergency brakes work by way of a cable system. If the brakes are not holding, the cable may be able to be adjusted, or the pads could be worn too far for the brakes to hold.

Why would front anti lock disc brakes not work after the pads are replaced?

you may have forgotten to plug in the connectors

Will cantilever brake pads work on a linear pull system for your bicycle?

Sort of, maybe. Some cantis use pads with smooth posts, and it's very rare to find a v-brake that take those. But some canti brakes use pads with threaded posts, and those should work, after a fashion, with v-brakes. Do note that canti brake pads are usually thicker and shorter than v-brake pads, which can influence the performance and the setup.

How do brakes work?

Brakes work by a simple process. That process is the rubber brake pad rubs against the the real brake with lots of force. is also the reason brake pads have to be replaced every once and a while.

How do disc brakes work?

Most modern cars have disc brakes on the front wheels, and some have disc brakes on all four wheels. This is the part of the brake system that does the actual work of stopping the car.The disc brake is a lot like the brakes on a bicycle. Bicycle brakes have a caliper, which squeezes the brake pads against the wheel. In a disc brake, the brake pads squeeze the rotor instead of the wheel, and the force is transmitted hydraulically instead of through a cable. Friction between the pads and the disc slows the disc down.Vented disc brakes have a set of vanes, between the two sides of the disc, that pumps air through the disc to provide cooling.

Do brakes on a bike work because of Gravity?

No brakes on anything work because of gravity. Pressure and friction are what stop anything utilizing brakes. On a bike, you pull the brake lever on the handle bar and it pulls the line connected to your brakes. The two brakes pads on either side of your wheel compress, applying friction and thus stopping your bike. The harder you pull, the faster you stop.

How long do brake pads last?

AnswerWith controlled driving habits, disk pads should last 50-60,000 miles. Drum brakes maybe 40,000 miles. This is based upon personal experience, downshifting when slowing, etc.If you OEM or standard replacement brakes 30K is a good average for front pads. It varies greatly, depending on how you drive, what kind of driving you do, etc. Cheaper pads obviously wont last as long. Now back brakes, since they only do 20-30% of the work can last two or three times as long. The best thing to not go by mileage, but routinely inspect your brakes (say every 10K or so) and replace when necessary. Front brakes should be replaced when 1/8 of an inch or less pad is remaining, and rear drum style brakes when 1/16 or less is remaining. Dont let your pads go very long if they start squealing or you will be replacing the rotors too!
