its not really called a vtec sensor. its a Vtec Solenoid, the solenoid has an oil pressure switch mounted on the solenoid. When the head reaches a certain pressure the oil pressure switch sends a signal to the ecu and the ecu sends a signal to the solenoid to open the extra valves
The oild pressure sensor Is below the oil filter on the engine block. The knock sensor is above the oil filter. The vtec oil pressure sensor is on the block next to the distibutor. For a Vtec model and the 2.3 liter models(on the Si-Se models). On the 2.2 non-vtec(S model) I believe it is on the block above the oild filter
its located inside the distributor itself
The ecu activates the third lobe on your camshaft (vtec) if a couple of criterias are met; sufficient oil pressure rpm 5300 vehicle speed above 30 km/h If you don't have the o2 sensor working your ecu will give an error and the engine warning light on your dashboard will light up but the vtec still works.
no lx has vtec,,, no the only EX had vtec's
does this have a vtec engine?
The d16y8 is a vtec motor, I have no idea what vtec-e is.
You have to acquire a vtec head either from a b16 or a b18 (gsr)
LS vTec
On the head right by the Vtec Solenoid. It is actually a little below of the solenoid to the left. It has 1 wire pluged in to it. On the head right by the Vtec Solenoid. It is actually a little below of the solenoid to the left. It has 1 wire pluged in to it.
vtec system malfunction
The VTEC system can not simply be hooked up. It is only found in certain Honda Engines. To install VTEC in a non-VTEC car the engine must be swapped in.
a vtec head, and a vtec enabled computer
