Is vehicle actually overheating ? and Is it charging? Many of this early Optimas have grounding issues that can cause the temp gauge to read higher than normal
All Kia Optimas are built to be run on regular unleaded (87 octane) gas. Any higher octane does not enhance performance on these cars as the fuel ignition system will compensate. As with all gasoline containing ethanol, use of a fuel system cleaner is recommended to prevent varnishing of the injector system.

I say yes, they are interchangable. Both year Optimas have identical interiors. 2001-early 2006 is the same body style.

The PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve on most Optimas is screwed into the intake manifold. They are all steel construction and about 2" long. I got mine at AutoZone, part number PCV1171. When I called Kragen they asssured me that my car doesn't have one... they are wrong.
Kia forums indicate a group 24 or 35 (which is higher in amps) for the Sorento.
