The Key hole is an emergeny shift system in case there is a brake pedal failure in the car you stick the key in that hole to shift out of park without applying the brake first
Remove cover on top of engine, pull plug wires straight up.The spark plugs will be down in a hole for each cylinder. You need a spark plug socket and a long extention to reach them.
If you look on the hump in the middle of the car near the back seat. it should be right behind the hole where transmission leaver and the gear shifter connect.
You have a small key size hole in the console next to the shifter. Push your key in there and you should be able to shift to any gear. It is the interlock manual overide.
the servo that is activated when u press the brake might be bad or it could be a blown fuse or a broken wire
This should be really simple, if you've already removed all of the bolts which hold the shifter in including the one behind the shifter hole in the trans, the shifter should slide right down into the transmission (provided the transmission was in neutral when you pulled the shifter)
To check the manual transmission fluid on a Daewoo Lanos, first, ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the engine is off. Locate the transmission fill plug, usually found on the side of the transmission. Remove the plug and check if the fluid is at the level of the hole; if it drips slightly when you touch it, the fluid level is adequate. If it's low, add the appropriate type of manual transmission fluid until it reaches the correct level.
there is a little trap door where the shifter is you have to put a pen or a screw driver down there with your foot on the break and use one hand to push the pen or screw driver and other hand to drop into gear the hole or trap door.is really small size is 1/4 inch by 1/4 inch on the face at the bottom where you see sitting there left side next to or by the "D" on the gear shift.
the timing marks are the top gear are on the in side of the gear two marks must line up with the flat part of the head make shore the loobs of the cam are pointing down and the other one is by the mag the shifter thesmall hole you will see a grove line it up with the grove on the mag
To the right of the gear shifter is a small plastic peg. Using a screwdriver, remove this peg. With the engine running and your foot on the break, put the screwdriver in the hole where the peg was. There is a switch that will release the gear shifter and allow you to put the car in Reverse or Drive. These directions are in your owners's manual. Note: The gear shift lock is a likely a safety feature preventing you from driving a car that is not at its optimal level of safety. Check your fuses and your back brakes. These are likely culprits and will hopefully return your gear shifter to working order. This will only allow you to take the care out of park, leaving you with no brake lights at all.You need to change the stop light switch located under the dash,at the top of the break pedal. The one located to the right of the pedal is the correct one,the left side is for the cruise control.
Nope!
I've had this problem for a while now. We went camping this memorial day weekend and it did this to the point that no amount of waiting or pushing fixed it, we called a tow truck to get it back to town and when the tow truck driver got out there he fixed it right away. To the right of the shifter is a small circular cap. Lifting that cap reveals a hole. At the bottom of that hole is a small button (you will need a long Phillips head screw driver or something of equivalent shape and size to reach it) depressing the button inside the hole will release the shift-lock and allow you to put it in drive. The tow truck driver informed me that this is caused by a bad "shift solenoid". The shift solenoid (to my understanding) basically informs the shifter when the brake pedal is depressed, a bad one means that the shifter is not getting that signal and will not release the shifter for use. This is not a permanent fix, the tow truck driver was adamant in recommending having a professional take a look at it as soon as possible, and I will do this same and recommend to you to go get it looked at as soon as possible.
Check for water leaks in rubber hoses. Check radiator for leaks. Check for Low engine oil level. Check oil for water ingress (water droplets on dipstick) Check for water in cylinder (Check compression or remove spark plugs, check for rust or water spurring out hole when cranking engine).
