Timing belt, also called a timing chain, should be replaced each 100,000 km/60,000 miles. Use this opportunity to examine gaskets, valve clearances/seating and injectors. When reassembling the head, ask your mechanic to do a 'cold valve' setup, which could greatly improve gas mileage and overall performance. The whole project will take a full day and cost approx USD500 or so. Allowing the belt to catastrophically fail by itself can create widespread damage costing you closer to USD2000.
I just replaced mine at about 95,000 miles.
You do not have to replace the timing belt but you will have to remove it in order the replace the pump. Unless the belt is pretty new I suggest you replace it at the same time you replace the pump. The pump should have been replaced when you replaced the belt at 105,000 miles.
timing belt and you need to replace it every 60,000 miles
no timing belt on a GMC Jimmy
no
No timing belt has a chain.Does not need replacing
there is no timing belt -- only a timing chain that does not need to be replaced
not for changing the belt. however you will need it for the ignition timing once you have replaced the timing belt
You don't. Its no longer a timing "belt" its a timing chain, which never will need to be changed.
I've been informed it has a timing chain, not belt, and therefore does not need to be replaced.
The '99 Chevy Prizm has a timing chain, not a timing belt, so it does not need to be replaced.
