You always want to shift right before you redline! So when your in 4th gear your rpms wont drop so low and you'll be at a high hp rpm! don't know if you understand! i have a 2004 350z dyno tune and i shift at 7100rpm!
You should feel it shift from 1st to 2d then 2nd to 3rd. It is a three speed transmission so it will shift twice.
The transmission will only shift from 1st gear into second gear. It will not shift into 3rd, 4th or overdrive. Generally, temporarily used for pulling a heavy load like pulling a boat out of the water.
Not if you have an automatic transmission.
Shift your transmission into neutral N before putting into 4 low, this should engage it. Do the same for taking it out of 4 low. N on the trans then shift.
i think you can replace the seal by removing the rubber shift boot
You can't shift gears on an automatic transmission because, as it is called, it's automatic! You don't need to shift, it does it for you. == == Maybe the question should be "Why is my automatic transmission not shifting through gears for me as it should?" Could it be a fairly simlpe fix or am I losing my transmission? Yeah Dopey!
The Dodge Stratus should solenoid can be found on the side of the transmission. The shift solenoid will be on the right side. The shift solenoid should be labeled as such.
Absolutely Your shift rod is not seated properly. The shift rod is attached to your transmission at the rear wheel, right by the brake pads. There is an adjustment nut for the shift there. 1. Loosen the nut but do not remove it. 2. Manually put shift in Neutral. 3 Now tighten nut. 4. Shift should now be in proper alignment. 5. If this does not work, try again. You will see that by pulling in and out on the short shift stub coming out of the transmission, that this is what you need to adjust.
All of the shift linkage should be internal. You will have to remove transmission, split the transmission in two to access the linkage.
The 2.8 wasn't a powerhouse of an engine. If it has a standard shift transmission you may pull light loads.
In normal driving conditions operating in Overdrive is fine and expected. In conditions of heavy loads or pulling something i.e. (trailer) overdrive should not be used. The transmission will shift up and down alot and in turn possibly overheat the transmission fluid creating extensive wear on the transmission.
On the top of the transmission, with a harness headed to it, should be about 3 bolts to take off, then valve comes off... shift solenoids are in there
