The car manual that came with the vehicle should have a diagram of the fuse box. If it does not the manufacture should offer a downloadable diagram.

If parking lights stay on after the car is turned off on a 2001 Hyundai Elantra than the brake switch is malfunctioning. The brake switch turns off when pressed in and if it does not work the lights of the vehicle will stay on.
no it does not. I have a 99 elantra. It only has the warning sound for leaving the key in and opening the door. I have forgotten my lights on several times because of it.
Chjeck the brake light switch located somewhere on the brake pedal lever.
first of all do you have any dash lights coming on.(is there power from the battery)
it would be the brake light switch about 20 dollars at autozone
I believe that it is illegal to run fog lights and high beams together, however I could be wrong.
Check your fuses. If they are all good and none are blows, you probably have a short somewhere in the electrical lines.
I have read that you need a "powered" wiring harness because the Elantra routes the tail lights through a computer that cannot handle the extra amperage necessary to drive a trailer's lights. A powered harness connects directly to the battery for power and taps the tail-light wires to control relays.
a mi me paso eso se arregla con solo cambiar el relay de luces y punto ya vuelve las luces a prender....

On my 2000 Hyundai Elantra, you can access the license plate lights from the outside. You use a flathead to pop out the right side of the light, twist the back end (where the wire comes out) and the part with the bulb comes out. Pull it out, slide the new bulb in, retwist it into its container and pop the light back in place. Repeat for other side. Cost me $3 for the bulbs and took me about 5 min to do.
