Does ac make the car spend more gas?

yes it does it makes the engine run at a higher rpm to run the ac compressor

How does the idle speed compensation switch work?

This switch compensates for the rpm that are lost when you turn on the ac in your vehicle. The ac puts an extra load on the engine that this switch then compensates for and puts your rpm back to where they belong.

Why does the ac get hotter when you give it gas then when the rpm goes down it get cold again?

The computer turns the AC clutch off when accelerating for maximum engine power. The AC compressor uses up some engine horse power.

You have a Ford escort ZX2 1998 when switch on the Air-conditioning the engine RPM decreases what can be the problem?

Why does my ac stop blowing when I press gas pedal on 2004 Ford Expedition?

When you press the gas pedal, the engine RPM increases, which can affect the operation of the AC system due to a lack of sufficient airflow or a problem with the engine's vacuum system. In some cases, the AC compressor may be disengaging under load if the engine is struggling, or there could be a vacuum leak affecting the AC controls. Additionally, a weak or failing AC compressor may not be able to maintain proper cooling under increased engine demand. It's advisable to have the system checked for any mechanical or electrical issues.

Why is it that my 1994 Geo Prizm engine makes a strange high-pitched squeaking sound when under load at lower rpm This noise increases with AC on. Maybe a loose drive belt Engine is 1.6L I4 16valves?

Sounds like a slipping belt. Could be a component not turning, or turning too slowly.

How do you adjust the idle on the 1987 dodge ram?

If it has the standard 2bbl carb, there is a screw on the drivers side linkage. Just turn in to increase the rpm's, and back out to decrease. There is also a choke "kick-down" screw that can affect engine rpm when cold. This one will be screwed into a "stepped" cam on the linkage. You will need to adjust this for high idle speed when engine is cold. You may also have a high idle speed solenoid mounted on the front of the carb. This increases engine rpm when the ac unit is swithced on. This should be adjusted from the factory, but can be tuned by by a screw on the front of the solenoid.

Why does a 1992 cop car caprice accellerate at stop sign with no cruise control?

I need a little more information on this one. Do you mean that the engine RPM suddenly increases after being at a normal idle? Or do you mean that the engine will not idle down? If the engine RPM will not slow to a normal idle (somewhere between 500 and 700 RPM) I'd check for vacuum leaks. Start with the EGR valve. Make sure the gasket is in place and the EGR valve is installed and tightened. Also check the throttle body and make certain that it is properly tightened. If the engine suddenly races while idling, I'd check the mechanism that increases idle speed when the AC kicks on. If it is improperly adjusted you could have a problem. I'll watch this post and if you have any more concerns, write a clarifying question.

What are the switched and unswitched AC plugs on my receiver?

Switched power means the AC power will be lost if the receiver is on standby. In unswitched, the power will be supplied even if the receiver is on standby. Regards, Raghu

What would cause a 95 Toyota Corolla 1.8l Toyota Corolla 1.8l engine to vibrate at idle?

When ac turns on the RPM of car drops and engine shakes?

Vehicles have compensation systems to increase the rpm when the AC is loading the engine, and slowing it down. Newer cars idle speed often isn't adjustable, so the problem's in the ECM (computer) or a sensor. With an older vehicle, simply bump up the idle speed a little. Usually a 1/8 or so, turn on the adjusting screw will do it.
