Check the brake light switch located under the 1989 Toyota Corolla. If the switch is stuck the parking light will continue to stay on.
dont know about 97 but in 94 there is a diagram on the inside fuse panel (under dash). The one for rear brakes should be labeled "stop". Its is a blue 15a.
