Personal taste. I think BMW are not worth the extra money asked for them, because the Honda is more reliable, better equipped for the money, better boot space, front wheel drive.
BMW have undoubtedly the best diesel engines in the world from a driver's perspective, and if you like rear wheel drive, there is no competition. They are, however, very driver-focussed.
