Remove the air cleaner housing or at least lift it up and prop it.Clean the carburetor linkage especially the choke!!!!!. Use carb cleaner(I prefer brake cleaner more thoro) and then lube ALL the linkage with liquid wrench or bp blaster (wd 40 is NO good) and this will correct the problem! These carbs are notorious for sticking choke linkage I know first hand after owning mine since new for 22 yrs.
To adjust the carburetor on a 1988 Mazda B2200, first ensure the engine is at operating temperature. Then, locate the air-fuel mixture screw, usually found on the side of the carburetor, and adjust it by turning it clockwise to lean the mixture or counterclockwise to enrich it, aiming for the highest idle speed. After adjustments, set the idle speed using the idle speed screw, ensuring it meets the manufacturer's specifications. Finally, double-check the adjustments by testing the engine performance and making further tweaks as necessary.
Stock ignition timing at idle is 6 deg BTDC +/- 1 deg. I like to set mine for about 7 or 8 deg BTDC. Kyrasis6 Mazdatruckin.com
I have an 89 Mazda b2200 and all i did was mess with the timing and it started to run better,a but a friend suggested that I pull the distributor shaft and turn it a notch.
throttle postioning sensor is bad
Cars often idle fast when you start them up. The automatic choke will make the car idles fast for a while then the idle speed will slow down, once the engine warms up.
The ignition timing for a Mazda B2200 typically ranges from 5 to 10 degrees before top dead center (BTDC) at idle, depending on the specific engine configuration and year. It's important to refer to the vehicle's service manual for the exact specifications, as variations may exist between models and production years. Adjusting the timing can influence engine performance, fuel efficiency, and emissions, so any changes should be made carefully.
The Mazda Millennia Speed sensor tells the speedometer how fast the vehicle is traveling. Speed sensors are located on top of the transmission housing where they can reach the input shaft. The speed at which the input shaft spins tells the vehicle how fast it is moving.
there is no "fast idle solenoid" there has'nt been a fast idle adjustment on passenger cars in over 20 years
Did you check the cable that runs from the pedal to the intake? Maybe it could be broken or just simply worn out.
To adjust the idle on Mazda 929 from 1992-1995.......on the top side off throttle body there is a idle air screw, turn screw cloclwise to reduce RPM. Question...is idle always high when hot or cold?
im sorry but your store is so last year!!!
A vacuum leak or a dirty or defective Idle Air Control Valve will cause an unstable idle. jd
