It is a triple rotor Rotary engine. A b2000 was there pickup.
Inside the distriburator after you remove the rotor button.
This truck DOES NOT have points!!You would have the standard rotor cap and distributor for electronic ignition.Just buy new cap/rotor install and DONE.Points have not been on vehicles for YEARS.
The RX8 has 4 spark plugs or two plugs per rotor. Each rotor has a leading and a trailing plug, the trailing fires a little bit after the leading plug.
get a tune-up change your plugs and wires and your cap and rotor
Apparently you have NO clue that the truck has electronic ignition! Meaning the truck does NOT have points! It has a rotor button, and ignition module.Points have not been used on the for years and the 86-93 Mazda series are all electronic ignition. I own a 89 b2000 and the point gap is 0.45-0.55 and it DOES have points! I can take a photo for you if you like? So they are NOT all electronic ignition!

try to get a new ignition rotor
nb,
Replace plugs, wires, cap, rotor, belt as needed. Also check all fluids.Replace plugs, wires, cap, rotor, belt as needed. Also check all fluids.
Sounds to me like you need to replace the spark plugs, spark plug wires and rotor. If the condition still persists, replace the distributor cap.
rebuild or replace.....you have a serious issue there
