You have a clutch problem The clutch is not releasing correctly and the the car will not go into gear This is probably a problem with the hydraulic clutch system.
Your clutch needs adjusting. The pressure plate is not fully releasing the clutch.
The most probable cause is that the clutch is either not releasing; master/slave cylinder not working, or the clutch itself is damaged.
I'd bet that the clutch is dragging, not releasing fully.
If It Is A Standard Shift, It Sounds Like You Clutch Is Not Releasing. From The Information You Have Stated.
5th gear synro is inside the trans... the clutch has nothing to do with it.
Your clutch isn't releasing entirely.
a) Check gear oil level/condition. b) or you have a worn synchronizer. Verify that your clutch linkage is adjusted, if this is a cable linkage vehicle. Hydraulic units are not suppose to be adjustable. Your difficulty with getting the vehicle into first gear could be a result of the throw-out fork not fully releasing the clutch disk; hence the above suggestion to verify that the clutch mechanism is adjusted properly for full travel of the throw-out fork.
The clutch of a go kart is much the same as the clutch on a car. The clutch disengages the engine from the gearbox enabling the gear to be changed. Without a clutch gear changing would be difficult and may damage the gearbox.
If your car is in any gear 1+ releasing the clutch takes load off of the engine. Causing it to idle higher, where it normally would. So if you think its odd, its normal for a manual to do that.
gear and clutch relation _ when clutch is disconnect this time gear shifting thats relation
Sounds like the clutch is slipping and needs to be replaced - if cable was stretched clutch would not disengage and vehicle would creep in 1st gear and shifting would be difficult
