Check the bulbs they are double filamented and filaments may be touching each other causing a backfeeding situation through the stop light circuit.

The kit will have the harness and instructions. If you hard wire the trailer into the truck taillights the "lamp out" light will come on on the dash and the turnsignals will flash fast.
