Tornado centres move accross ocean and land. However, they are formed and dissipate in the latitudes of 10 degrees N/S to 30 degrees N/S of the Equator.

In different parts of the world , they go by different names.

In the West Indies ' Hurricanes.

In the Bay of Bengal ; Cyclones

In the South China Sea ' Typhoons

Off N.W. Australia ' Willy Willies (Aboriginal name).

They also form off N.E. Brazil, and in the Straits of Madagascar ( S.E. Africa).

They are all characterised by an extremely low pressure centre(eye). Extremely high winds outside the eye, and extremely heavy rain.

Once they move North and South of latitudes 30 degrees N/S respectively, they becomes 'Deep Depressions'. The pressure in the 'eye' begins to rise, the wind does not blow as strong, and the rain is not as heavy.
