Some facts are, Pluto is now a dwarf planet , Venus is the hottest planet, Mars has 2 moons, Neptune is the coldest planet and Uranus, Saturn, Neptune, and Jupiter all have ring systems.

Mercury: This is the closest planet in our Solar system to the Sun, the average distance being 58 million Km (0.38 Au), Earth by comparison is nearly three times this distance further away.

Venus: Is the brightest planet in our sky.

Earth: Has more exposed water than land.

Mars: Is the home of "Olympus Mons", the largest volcano found in the solar system. It stands about 27 kilometers high with a crater 81 kilometers wide.

Ceres: Between Mars and Jupiter is a dwarf planet known as Ceres. The largest asteroid in the Main Belt, it was discovered in 1801. It is the smallest of the named dwarf planets and is the only one found in the asteroid belt. It has as half as much mass as the rest of the asteroids combined.

Jupiter: Is so big that you could fit all the other planets in the solar system

inside it. The red spot of Jupiter is the biggest, most violent storm in the known universe. You can also fit three Earth sized objects into the red spot on Jupiter.

Saturn: Is the second biggest planet, but it's also the lightest planet. If there was a bathtub big enough to hold Saturn, it would float in the water. The ring that surrounds Saturn could be the remnants of a moon that was shattered by Saturn's gravity.

Uranus': axis is at a 97 degree angle, meaning that it orbits lying on it's side.

Neptune: Was discovered in 1846 (over 150 years ago). Since that time it has only made one complete orbit around the Sun, because one Neptune year lasts 165 Earth years

(If you still consider this a planet) Pluto: The orbit of Pluto sometimes brings it closer to the Sun than Neptune.

-------------

Mercury= Is closests to the sun and takes 88 days to go completely around the sun.

Venus= Second planet closest to the sun and may have active volcanoes.

Earth= Only planet known to have life and could go into the sun at least 1 million times.

Mars= Has been visited by the Mars Rover and may be visited by astronauts in the future.

Jupiter= Has rings and 5th planet closest to the sun.

Saturn= Right behind Jupiter and may also have rings and is known to maybe have some moons.

Uranus= Can be pronounced 2 ways (YUR-en-us or yur-AYN-us).

Neptune= It is a large gas giant and has methane clouds that keep Neptune the color blue.

Pluto= Now known as a dwarf planet and very far from the sun.

There are four rocky planets ( Earth, Mars, Venus and Mercury). These planets are collectively called as the terrestial planets. Outer planets are the four major gaseous planets which includes Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Uranus - they are collectively known as the Jovian planets because of their similarity to the planet Jupiter. They are also called gas giants. Neptune is the farthest planet from the sun
