Because the earth's atmosphere is essentially transparent to visible light.

This amazing factoid has a lot to do with the reason that you can see through the earth's atmosphere

in the opposite direction too ... and see the moon from your back yard.

The Moon is a solid object, and it reflects sunlight; we see the reflected sunlight. We see the surface of the Moon fairly clearly because the Moon mas no atmosphere or weather, and so there are no distortions or obstructions to limit visibility.

You can see the moon because the sun shines on it and illuminates it,

like a flashlight shining on a tennis ball in a dark room.

Why people cannot see the moon phase?

Any person on earth can see the phase of the moon by looking for the moon in the night sky. The only reason you would not be able to determine the phase of the moon by observational means would be if the night sky was obscured by clouds.

Why dont you see the new moon?

The moon does not emit any light, the only reason why we see the moon at night is due to the sun reflecting off it. When there is a new moon the earth is exactly in between the moon and the sun, thus no sunlight reaches the moon as a result it is dark and cannot be seen in the night sky

Why venus is not a source of light but pissible to see in the night sky?

When the sky is totally dark and you cannot see the moon?

IF you are unable to see the moon when it is totally dark outside this means it is probably a new moon (or close to a new moon). Another reason that you may not see the moon at night is that it is blocked by a cloudy side or on the opposite side of tall objects such as buildings around you.

Why you see the moon in night only?

If you only see the moon at night, the only possible reason is that you're not looking for it during the day. The moon is in the sky roughly 12 hours and 25 minutes out of every 24 hours. During a period of 29.5 days, it's in the daytime sky for exactly as much time as in the night-time sky.

Why we see the moon at night?

We see the moon during the day, too. The reason we can see the moon is because it is large and close to Earth. As such, it reflects a portion of the sunlight which lands upon it down toward our planet. The angle of the sun upon the moon's surface, as seen from the Earth, is also what's responsible for the phases of the moon.
