Spring Equinox
----
In most places, yes. However, as of November, places near the north pole will not experience another sunrise for several months. Polar winters are dark.
Depending on your latitude and the date, the direction of sunrise ranges from MANY degrees north or south of East, to directly east. The sunrise in Maine at the Summer Solstice can be 40 degrees north of East, and as many degrees south at midwinter. If you are close to the equator, then the sunrise is never all that far off of East.
East, more or less. Depending on the date and your latitude, the exact direction may be somewhat north or south of due east, but the Sun (and Moon, and stars, and planets) all rise in "the east" and set in "the west". The reason is that the Earth is actually spinning like a carousel, from west to east. The Sun, planets and stars aren't actually MOVING, and even the Moon doesn't move all that quickly.
Kyushu is the island at 33 degrees north and 130 degrees east.
I uderstand the cardinal directions to be North, East, South and West
The Sun rises due East at the equinoxes, March 21 and September 22. It rises slightly north of there on March 22, the day after the equinox. That answer applies all over the world.

East, would be the closest direction, though it is slightly south, so East by South would be a closer direction.
