Like he says above, it pretty much depends on how well it was maintained by the previous owner(s). My company has been buying Ford Vans for the last 15 years, and they've held up pretty well - much better than the Chevy vans our competitor buys! He has all sorts of problems with his, but that may be because he doesn't maintain them like we do, I don't know.

The Ford E-series vans are based on the same platform and drivetrain as the F-series trucks. They can be obtained with a higher tow rating than anything else in their class since Dodge dropped the Ram vans, and my personal '99 F-150 has 258,000 miles on the original engine & trans, and it's still going strong. Take it for what it's worth.
