The marked # 1 position on the distributor cap faces to the FRONT
The wire sequence on the distributor cap just goes 1 thru 6, clockwise, starting from the number one position (which should be marked either on the cap or distributor).
Easiest way to find it is to set #1 piston at TDC, remove the distributor cap and see where the rotor is pointing. It should be pointing to position #1 in relation to the distributor cap.
It's the same on a Chevy pull your distributor cap see what position the rifle buld is facing and drop the electronic dust. In the same position and wire it up and add an ignition power to the distributor.
The marked # 1 position on the distributor cap faces to the FRONT / CENTER
1-3-2-4 distributor rotor turns counter-clockwise cylinder layout: FRONT OF CAR 2 1 4 3 On the distributor cap, #1 position points toward the PASSENGER REAR of the car, and is probably also marked on the cap. #1 cylinder uses the SHORTEST spark plug wire. Then #3 distributor cap position points toward the PASSENGER FRONT of the car, and uses a longer spark plug wire. Then, going counter-clockwise, is #2 distributor cap position, then #4 dist. cap position.
The distributor cap should have the number 1 marked on it. The distributor cap is installed with the # 1 position facing the engine , slightly towards the drivers side of the engine
Distributor cap should have 2 clips - release theseRotor should just pull off - has a key to install in proper position make sure new is installed with key in slot Replace distributor cap -(should have a pin to insure it goes in only one position) Move one wire at a time from old to new so they don't get mixed up
there is no cap it has a coil for each plug wire on the motor remove one wire at a time and replace it

With hood open, standing on the passenger side, #1 on the distributor cap would be at the 10 O'clock position.
