My cluch cable broke. My girlfriend, girlfriend's sister, and brother in law were all in the car and it was pouring rain on a Friday night. I pushed the car up to a speed that was compatible with second gear, then put car back into gear without the cluch, and drove home and swapped cars.

However it is somewhat tricky, and you risk damaging the transmission. Every so often I don't use the clutch in my Honda civic and it works fine. Mostly because I just forgot to clutch it.
So I tried driving around without clutching.. not really a good idea, I ground the gears a few times, after doing that for awhile, and going back to clutching it the tranny didn't like that too much 1-2 shifts were kinda tough for a bit. Its possible I beat up the syncros doing that.
