What you need to know is the RMS power rating and ohms of the subwoofer.

(Example; RMS is 300 watts and it is a 2 ohm sub. This is what you would need. You have 2 subs so a total of 600 watts. So you want an amp with a max power rating of 600 watts, but he is the tricky part. They were 2 ohm subs. So your amp needs to be 2 ohm stable. No there all not 90% of amps are only 4 ohm stable.)

What is a car amp for?

Depends on the amp. There are two different types. Theres one for your in car speakers and theres one for your sub. The small amps are to increase sound for the small speakers and the big amps are so you can have subwoofers and you can have lots of bass.

How big of an amp do you need for to 17 inch subs?

for Two* 17 inch subs? Assuming this is what you mean, your question is still completely unanswerable. All you have to do when getting an amp is basically to match up the RMS Wattage on the Subwoofers to the RMS Wattage output on the amp. Impedance will factor into this as well.

Do the Sony subwoofers come with a good warranty over two years?

Most Sony Subwoofers include a 1 year manufacturer's warranty. As long as your subwoofer is properly installed and matched to the correct amp, you should have no problems, as Sony is a very reputable brand.

Will an amp that puts out 185 watts RMS per channel blow two subwoofers rated at 175 watts RMS if I don't push them?

Wire them in series and you should be ok.

Can you hook up two subwoofers to one receiver?

yes, you can, either via a Y-cable to the sub output, or via a pre-amp, or hook them up parallel to a mono amp or if you have a 2 channel amp then just hook them up regurally but if you have a mono amp then...have two positive and two negative wires coming out of the amp then hook 1 negative wire up to the negative spot on a speaker..then do the same with the other..then do the same with the positive

Will 300 watt kicker amp push two tens?

It depends on the specific power-handling capabilities of the subwoofers and their impedance. If the subwoofers have a total power handling capacity that is lower than 300 watts and the amplifier can provide enough power at the required impedance, then it should be able to adequately power the two tens. However, if the subwoofers have a higher power handling capacity or the amplifier cannot provide enough power, it may not be sufficient.

If you have two 1400 watt subwoofers that have a 700 watt RMS should you get an amplifier that has the watts of both of the subwoofers together 2800 or should you get an amplifier with only 1400 watts?

get the 2800

If you have two 300 watt subwoofers for your vehicle then what size amp do you need?

This is determined by how you wire your subs to your amp. If you get an amp that's bridgeable to mono, then you can wire your subs in series. You will get much more thump if you do it this way. However, make certain that your amp is bridgeable, and stable down to 2 or even 1 Ohms. Check with the dealer you buy from. When wired the way I mentioned, a 300-Watt amp will probably do nicely!
