To add oil to a Simplicity hydro transmission, first, locate the transmission fill cap, usually found on the top or side of the transmission housing. Remove the cap and use a funnel to pour the recommended type and amount of hydrostatic Transmission Fluid into the reservoir. After filling, replace the cap securely and run the machine briefly to circulate the fluid, then check the level again to ensure it's at the proper mark. Always refer to the owner's manual for specific instructions and fluid specifications.
To add transmission oil to a Simplicity garden tractor, first ensure the engine is off and cool. Locate the transmission fill cap, usually found on the side of the transmission housing. Remove the cap, and using a funnel, pour the appropriate type and amount of transmission oil as specified in the owner's manual. Replace the cap securely after filling.
Best to use Simplicity Multi-purpose Hydro Oil, part #1685516. Not much more in price than an alternate, and get the proper weight and additives.
If you mean transmission oil, you don't add any. The transmission is sealed, it never needs oil.
According to the Simplicity manual for models 7018, 7117, and 7119, hydrostatic transmission and tractor hydraulic systems use fluid from gear transmission (reduction gear) case. Dexron automatic transmission fluid (or equivalent) is recommended. Fluid capacity is 3 quarts (2.8L) and should be checked every 25 hrs of operation. Fluid and filter should be changed at 400 hr intervals.
There is normally a plug on the upper side of the transmission under the vehicle. That is where you add oil. Add oil until it runs out. It is then full.
On manual transmission until oil flows out of full level hole. on most manual transmission the refill hole is the oil level. On automatic transmission if no oil shows on dipstick add a quart at a time.
You shouldn't have to.
To add tranny fluid, you remove thr transmission oil dip stick, and use your newly bought transmission oil funnel which will fit into the transmission oil dipstick tube and add oil, little at a time is best, dont over fill, if the oil shows on the stick at the add line, checking it hot and in park running, you probably only need about a half a quart.
Add automatic transmission fluid through the dip stick tube. No kidding!
You add fluid the same place you check the fluid level.
John Deere recommends that you put Low Viscosity Hy-Gard or Hy-Gard Transmission oil in their Hydro or Gear Transmissions. The Low-Vis is used for factory fill in the Hydro and Hy-Gard in the Gear Transmission.
Remove the clutch cover or the primary chain inspection cover and add the transmission oil there.
