If the carburetor has an adjustment screw for the lean/richness you can adjust it there. If the air cleaner is dirty or clogged replacing it might take care of the problem. If not, you will probably have to rebuild the carburetor.
First, you will want to be sure that it isn't flooding. Be sure that the automatic choke is working properly. Set the timing to factory specifications. Then you can only adjust the idle fuel air mixture. If it continues to run rich then the carburetor is most likely the fault.
To adjust a Suzuki DT100 that is running rich, first locate the carburetor and find the air-fuel mixture screw, usually situated near the bottom of the carburetor. Turn the screw clockwise to lean the mixture, making small adjustments and testing the engine's performance after each change. Additionally, check the spark plug for fouling; if it’s sooty, it indicates a rich condition. Ensure that the air filter is clean, as a clogged filter can also contribute to running rich.
